The competition

THE MILLION FOR A MORGUE CAMPAIGN IS A UNIQUE FUNDRAISING PROJECT SET UP BY THE UNIVERSITY OF DUNDEE TO HELP RAISE FUNDS TO BUILD THE MORGUE WITHIN THE NEW THIEL CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE.

The idea to involve the crime writers was borne out of the friendship between Professor Sue Black, the Director of the CAHID at the University of Dundee, and crime fiction writer Val McDermid. Professor Black has often assisted Val with the forensic details required for her crime stories and they have appeared at book festival events together discussing the thought process behind crime fiction.

By donating to the campaign, you can also vote in the competition to find the favourite writer from our list of crime authors.

DONATE/VOTE

Everyone who donates to the Million For A Morgue campaign will get to vote for their favourite author or authors to determine who will have their name on the Thiel Centre of Excellence at the University of Dundee.  You can vote now by visiting the authors page and selecting your favourite author.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Every £1 donated is equal to one vote for your selected author.
  • Select the author you wish to vote for and make your donation via the University of Dundee website.
  • The author you vote for will receive those votes. For example, if you want to vote for Lee Child, click on the link on his page. If you donate £20, then 20 votes will go towards Lee.
  • You can make as many donations as you want if you wish to spread out your votes. Just click on the link corresponding to the author you wish to vote for.
  • The votes will be checked on a weekly basis and the site updated with the author votes.
  • The competition will close once the £1M target is reached and the author with the most votes will be declared the winner.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

The winning author will be announced once the fundraising target reaches £1M. In the event of a tie, the winner will be chosen by the University of Dundee.

You can donate as many times as you like and vote for different authors each time.

Donations are made through the University of Dundee's website. Your details will be stored by the University of Dundee only and not passed on to any third parties.
